Poetry serves as the divining rod for those immersed in the intoxication of life, individuals who have no other recourse but to spill their soul's lexicon upon the blank canvas of a page, yearning for it to lead somewhere profound. In simpler terms, poetry is my daily sustenance, the air I breathe, and the heartbeat of my existence.
Curiously, my poetic repertoire comprises only two completed works: Stained Love Like Egyptian Cotton and Walking In My Own Shadows (currently out of print). Nevertheless, my poetic voice has resonated in publications such as The Wee Sparrow Poetry Press, Gypsophila Zine, The Poetry Cove Magazine, and some esteemed anthologies.
My journey with poetry commenced during my junior year of high school in 2008 when classical poetry first unveiled its enchanting allure to me. Initially, I wielded verse as a vessel to unveil my inner self, but recently, I've ventured beyond that cocoon, exploring the art of poetic fabrication. Now, I craft verses that transcend the autobiographical, weaving imaginary and transcendent tales.
Growing up, my circle of friends was modest in size, and I often sought solace within the pages of books, particularly within the realms of fantasy and young adult fiction. In my early works, one can glimpse the influence of traditional poetic forms, like sonnets to a cherished friend or verses echoing the ache of a wounded heart. As the years unfurled, my pen embarked on more experimental odysseys, unfettered by tradition, akin to a postmodern painting brushed with the romantic spirit of revival.
My academic journey culminated in attaining a Master's in Creative Writing and English from Southern New Hampshire University in 2022. Among the constellation of influences guiding my artistic compass, the luminous names of Billy Collins, Robert Frost, Sylvia Plath, and numerous contemporaries gleam as the North Stars of my poetic universe.
I'm your quintessential Virgo, always ready to shower others with love, even if it means I'm the last one on my own self-love list (and vice versa).
Now, suppose you're ever pondering the style of poetry. In that case, I dabble in (because, let's face it, who has time to read these days?); picture this: Imagine John Keats and Sylvia Plath decided to have a poetic rendezvous and, just for kicks, tossed in a generous sprinkle of witty humor. The result? Something so breathtakingly exquisite it's like it deserves to be etched in stone while simultaneously begging to be shattered into a million glorious pieces.
When I'm not clutching a pen with such fervor that my fingerprints consider retirement, you'll usually find me lost in the pages of a book or engaged in a riveting staring contest with nature, pondering if the sky has any plans to take a dramatic plunge.
And, as if that weren't sufficiently eclectic, I occasionally venture into the world of home cooking, thanks to YouTube tutorials (yes, I'm a certified millennial gent). Every once in a blue moon, I'll surrender my mind to the escapades of video games or binge-watch whatever tickles my fancy on various streaming platforms, all while casually digging myself an early grave.
Oh, and if you ever need a stone bead bracelet, I can whip one up for you – not claiming guru status here, so please, no spiritual awakenings requested.
